I am bringing my background in the corporate world and technology, as well as my facilitation skills to work on creating impact in conservation efforts. I have been passionate about the climate crisis and the natural world ever since I first heard the words "climate change" at the tender age of 8, and I am using the skills I have acquired over the years to create positive change.

Why is this important?

CWB is doing incredible work in raising awareness, igniting action to protect migratory species and finding ways to get everyone involved. They focus not only on governments and policy but also on the people and communities that will be instrumental in bringing about change. In my role, I  support CWB in their Biodiversity Intelligence Unit project, from thinking about how they might use AI to identifying people and organisations that would be interested in working together to facilitating conversations.

What migratory species inspires me?

Spending my childhood in Lithuania, I remember always seeing stork nests on high poles, on roofs and other high places, which was a joyful sign that warmer weather was coming. Their migration habits are super interesting, in that they learn to take more direct routes throughout their lives, learning which routes are more efficient. For a fun stork fact, look up how they stay cool in the warm weather!

Why the photo?

This photo was taken in Cusco, Peru. I spent two months in Peru and Colombia this year, which made me reflect on the importance of protecting the incredible biodiversity seen there, and everywhere across the globe. I've always loved animals, but being constantly surrounded by beautiful (and at times scary) wildlife inspired me to get involved in conservation efforts in the most meaningful way that I can. P.s. the dog in this photo was really happy, despite the look on his little face!
