Some of you may have noticed that our event in London in May was a milestone, not only because we launched Flight of the Osprey, but also because Sacha was able to be up on her feet!
Well, what you can’t see in this video is that her left leg was still in a very cumbersome frame which has now been removed from her foot, and the rest will be removed in 25 days…We will keep you updated on her progress.
As soon as that is off, wires are out, and her leg is is ‘waterproof’ physio can begin in earnest. Being waterproof is important as the plan is for physio and rehab to be largely in the pool – good physio but also good preparation for the Flight of the Osprey expedition. The osprey’s diet consists solely of fish, so the underwater world is important for Sacha and the research team to explore.
The whole team are incredibly grateful for everyone that sent messages of support, gifts, donations and to the many medical professionals that helped. It all made a huge difference, especially with morale through the more challenging times.
One incident worth sharing is a thank you from Judi Dench to a particular nurse in Aberdeen. This nurse went above and beyond - under challenging circumstances - and also happens to be heavily involved in amateur dramatics. As a special thank you to him, CWB patron and relative of Sacha’s, Dame Judi Dench sent him a gift in support of his theatre company, and a video thank you which got thousands of views and many thousands of pounds in donations.New Paragraph
