“In preparation for the four-month Flight of the Osprey expedition, Dench is speaking to British ambassadors in every country along the route. With help from scientists at Cardiff University, she is developing a protocol for aerial photo surveys of macroplastics, and will log manatees, humpback dolphins and other marine mammals she sees from her paramotor. As she flies, her motor turned off as much as possible as she catches thermals as ospreys do, her support team on the ground will sample water quality and test for pollutants, pesticides and microplastics, and assess the state of seagrass – an important habitat for the fish ospreys eat and also a great carbon store."
If this sounds like a project, with purpose, that you want to support:
£15 fuels 100km of aerial surveying for plastic pollution, seagrass and marine mammals
£30 buys materials for new signage made by and for communities around critical habitats
£40 covers satellite cost of a global broadcast on climate change, from the rapidly expanding Sahara desert
£50 transports a group of politicians out to a wetland to discuss pollution prevention
£100 covers expenses for plastic clean up of an estuary
£200 runs a plastic innovation session with students and entrepreneurs
£250 funds an osprey platform
Sharing this page online and with generous philanthropists buys you eternal gratitude from the entire team 😉
