A collaboration with celebrated fantasy artists Brian Froud and Alan Lee, who created vulture-inspired characters the Skeksis from the Dark Crystal and 'The Fell Beast' has raised over £10,000 for vulture conservation through an online auction run by BidAid.
The event was a huge success according to CEO of Conservation Without Border Sacha Dench:: "It is amazing to see people from different walks of life coming together in support of nature and these incredible creatures. I'd particularly like to thank all those from the event and those who joined online from around the world to bid and support a worthy cause".
Joe Parmenter who was the successful bidder on 'SkekUng the Garthim Master' said "The Dark Crystal teaches us that all living things need to live in harmony and balance with one another for their mutual survival. Species conservation is always close to my heart having grown up with that message. It has been more than a dream come true for me to support biodiversity through my love of Brian Froud's art."
CWB Founder Sacha Dench was asked to 'please do something for vultures' as UN Ambassador for the Convention on Migratory Species.
This radio program takes you with her on a journey to hear about the plight of these animals and the extraordinary efforts people are going to, to try to save them.
